Anna “Delvey” Sorokin, infamous for her high-profile legal troubles, is gearing up to join the latest season of “Dancing with the Stars,” not shying away from her controversial history.
Sorokin, who was convicted in 2019 on charges of grand larceny and various financial crimes after posing as a wealthy German heiress with a fabricated trust fund, spent two years in prison. She also faced 18 months of detention by immigration authorities for overstaying her visa.
Currently, Sorokin is under house arrest in New York, wearing an ankle monitor while appealing her deportation order. She recently shared with People that she received permission from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to travel to Los Angeles, where the show is filmed.
Her story gained widespread attention through Netflix’s 2022 series “Inventing Anna,” which dramatized her rise and fall.
Both Sorokin and ABC are fully embracing her infamous past. In a recent press release announcing the Season 33 cast, Sorokin was described as the “Notorious ankle bracelet fashionista Anna Delvey.” She will be paired with professional dancer Ezra Sosa for the competition.
