Katy Perry Finally Shares Why She Broke Up with Orlando Bloom

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are among the most talked-about celebrity couples worldwide. After a five-year engagement and welcoming their daughter, Daisy Dove, the two are reportedly planning to tie the knot later this year. However, this week’s headlines were dominated by revelations about the early days of their relationship, during which the couple briefly split before their engagement.

Perry and Bloom’s romance began in 2016 but hit a rough patch in 2017, leading to a year-long separation. Describing the breakup as a significant event in her life, Perry recently opened up about the reasons behind their split and credited The Hoffman Process for helping them find their way back to each other.

“We weren’t really committed from the start,” Perry admitted during her appearance on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast. “He was, because he had just gone through a long period of celibacy and had set his intentions. I, on the other hand, was fresh out of a previous relationship and feeling overwhelmed. I needed a different experience, but I hadn’t yet done the real work on myself.”

The pop star went on to discuss The Hoffman Process, a week-long retreat designed to resolve negative behavior patterns. Perry explained that Bloom’s transformation through this process significantly changed his approach to their relationship.

“He wasn’t playing that cat-and-mouse game anymore,” Perry recalled. “And I thought, ‘This is boring, I’m out.’ I was so used to the push and pull. Once you get used to it, it’s hard to break free. I was just playing games.”

After their difficult year apart, Perry decided to enroll in The Hoffman Process herself, describing it as life-changing.

“I wouldn’t still be here without that process and meditation,” she revealed. “When my album Witness was released, and things started shifting, I realized I hadn’t truly connected with myself. I thought I had self-love, but I was relying on external validation. The Hoffman Process helped me rewire my thinking and connect my head and heart.”

Although they eventually reunited, Perry noted that their relationship is still a work in progress.

“Orlando and I do a lot of couples therapy because we want to keep growing,” she explained. “We’re in this relationship to become better people, not just for ourselves but also for raising our daughter.”

Bloom, too, has been open about the complexities of their relationship. Speaking to Flaunt magazine last year, he admitted that maintaining their bond takes effort.

“We’re in two very different worlds,” Bloom said. “Her world isn’t one I naturally understand, and mine isn’t one she fully gets either. Sometimes, it’s incredibly challenging, but we’re aware of how lucky we are to have connected in such a unique way. There’s never a dull moment with us.”

Despite their ups and downs, Perry and Bloom’s commitment to personal growth and each other remains evident.
