Selma Blair Condemns Anti-Israel Protests, Criticizes Support for Hamas: ‘There’s Something Deeply Wrong’

Actress Selma Blair has voiced her unwavering support for Israel while condemning anti-Israel protesters whom she accuses of glorifying “terrorists.”

Blair, known for her roles in “Cruel Intentions” and “Legally Blonde,” took to Instagram on Tuesday to address the protests, particularly in California, where she observed a disturbing trend of people showing solidarity with “jihadists” in Gaza over Israel.

“About a year ago, after October 7, the world was given a glimpse of what terrorists are capable of, yet so many, especially where I live in California, fail to recognize this tragedy and the reality of what is happening,” Blair expressed.

Blair continued by declaring her support for Israel and the victims of ongoing violence. “I stand with Israel. I stand with the hostages. I stand with their families—mothers, sisters, friends—these are innocent people who have been subjected to unimaginable horrors and then murdered. The jihadists, the radicals, the extreme—they’re terrorists, and they control Gaza. And yet, this is who many are praising in the streets. Something is very wrong here.”

She concluded with a message of unity and peace: “I stand with all families, and I stand with everyone who values peace and human life. I’m with you. Am Yisrael Chai. God bless America,” said Blair, who is of Jewish heritage.

Her statement came just days after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the tragic execution of six hostages, including Israeli-American Hersh Goldberg-Polin. These hostages were killed by Hamas in tunnels beneath Rafah, a city on the Gaza Strip, just moments before Israeli forces attempted a rescue operation.

Blair has previously spoken against anti-Israel sentiments, responding to a video posted by a user named Abraham Hamra, which criticized antisemitism. In a now-deleted comment, Blair harshly criticized those she viewed as supporting terrorists.

“Thank you so much. Deport all these terrorist-supporting goons. Islam has ruined Muslim countries, and now they come here and corrupt minds. They are aware they are liars. Twisted justifications. May they meet their fate,” Blair wrote in February.

Following backlash, Blair issued an apology, acknowledging the harm caused by her words and admitting she had spread “hate and misinformation.”

“This is a time of immense pain and sorrow for many, but it is also a time to learn the importance of words. I commented on a post by Abraham Hamra about two congress members opposing the ban on October 7 Hamas terrorists from entering the USA,” Blair wrote.

She elaborated, saying, “In my comment, I mistakenly conflated Muslims with radical Islamists and fundamentalists, a serious error on my part that hurt many I never intended to, and I deeply regret this. I deleted the comment as soon as my mistake was pointed out.”

While many in Hollywood have voiced support for Palestinians and called for a ceasefire, Blair’s stance aligns her with those who are publicly backing Israel and speaking out against rising antisemitism in the wake of the October 7 terror attacks.
