Trump Declares ‘I Hate Taylor Swift’ Following Her Endorsement of Kamala Harris

Former President Donald Trump took to social media on Sunday to express his disdain for pop icon Taylor Swift, following her recent endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump’s outburst came less than a week after Swift voiced her support for Harris, sparking conversation across political and entertainment circles.

“I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” Trump posted in all caps on Truth Social, the social media platform developed by Trump Media & Technology Group.

Swift, who has largely remained private about her political views, broke her silence on Tuesday in an Instagram post where she backed Harris. The post came shortly after the recent presidential debate, marking a rare and significant political statement from the singer.

In her endorsement, Swift praised Harris, saying, “I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader, and I believe we can achieve so much more in this country if we are led by calm, not chaos.” Swift concluded the post by humorously referring to herself as a “childless cat lady,” a tongue-in-cheek response to Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance’s remarks about Democratic women.

Trump’s hostility toward Swift isn’t new. Recently, he shared digitally altered images purportedly showing Swift and her fans in support of him. Swift pointed to these misleading images as one of the reasons she felt compelled to publicly back Harris, further fueling tensions between the former president and the pop star.

In response to Trump’s harsh comments, the Harris-Walz campaign didn’t hold back. They issued a statement filled with nods to Swift’s popular music, striking a balance between humor and criticism.

“Donald Trump’s week of complaints and conspiracy theories has left voters on both sides eager to forget he ever existed,” said Sarafina Chitika, a spokesperson for the Harris campaign. “The American people are ready to move past the chaos and division of the Trump era, to leave behind the blank space of his broken promises, and to start again by electing Vice President Harris to secure a future of opportunity for all.”

While it’s uncertain how much weight celebrity endorsements will carry in the upcoming election, Swift’s influence is hard to ignore. Within just 24 hours of her endorsement, over 300,000 people visited Vote.gov, a government-run website that helps citizens access voting information by state.
